Finally getting around to Staring my GSP
#1
I started thinking about this a few months ago and yet never got around to it. Just a few weeks ago I finally said i was going to do it and here I am now.

I live in Australia, I have the base of my idea in play but making sure I get everything right before I start is a but of a problem. So far these are the things I have on my list of what is done and what is not done:

Plan (Almost Done)
Dedicated Server (Done: Reading Tom17 thread he has the right idea)
Website (Almost: Still working on it)
TCAdmin (Not Sure: Not sure is that is what I should do with)
Blank

Here is what I have. The problem now is im not sure if I need anything else?

Thanks to Tom17 I have my dedicated servers:

Core 2 Quad Q9550
4GB Ram
500GB SATA 2 Hard Drive (32MB Cache)
750 Data

That's barely anything speaking of how much you probably need.

Your clients wont be happy when you run out of bandwidth.

For that server, at least 2-3TB.

Noo, for starters, I would recommend 1500gb, and watch it month to month, if you find your coming close to it, upgrade the bw.

Its just alittle hard to do that in Australia it would be cheaper to get another server like this then to get so much transfer data

On the other side how many 66 Tick servers could this hold?

And just to make sure I know this, Servers only use Data when players are on it?

And updates, ftp, etc. Anything that requires data to be sent/received from the server.

whats the Mathematical way of working out how much bandwidth?
eg. a full 16 slot css server 24/7

Steam servers query the server every few seconds to confirm status of it and collect stats for their own uses. That means that a server with no people can still use bandwidth.
