They would hold about the same, I would recomend the Dual Quad just for convience of not being spread accross 2 servers

Also make sure they give u lots of IPs with the Dual Quad, b/c u'll end up overflowing ur IP if u put to many servers on 1 IP

How much ram would i need for the Dual quad?
Because if i need 4GB it will cost AU$740 p/m
but for the same price i can get:

Core 2 Quad Q9550
4GB Ram
1TB SATA 2 Hard Drive (32MB Cache)
750GB data
(two of thoses would cost me cost $745)

Right, isn't the general rule of thumb for servers, 1 gb of ram per core?

Yes/no, depends on what the server is being used for, in the case for game servers I would recommend 1gb of ram per core. Personally Tom17, I would rather have 2 good boxes rather than 1 great box, just from what I experienced, it is better performance when you have 2 small boxes compared to 1 gigantic box, just my 2 cents though Smile

So you think i should go with two of these

Core 2 Quad Q9550
4GB Ram
1TB SATA 2 Hard Drive (32MB Cache)
750GB data
(two of thoses would cost me cost $745)

How many slots could one of those hold?

Around 50 - 60 slots @ 100 tick PER CORE. (Thats for CSS)

yes, and you can save a few extra bucks by down sizing your hard drives to lets say 1 250gb or 500gb.

What would that be in 66tick

100 tick usually uses double the resources of 66 tick...

Looking at your bandwidth with both options, your going to be extremely limited. 1TB with the dual quad, and 500GB with the single quad. I had one 32 slot tf2 server use pretty close to that much by itself a couple months. It was full 24/7 but just saying unless you plan on running a bunch of match servers your going to need more bandwidth.

Im going with this:

Core 2 Quad Q9550
4GB Ram
1TB SATA 2 Hard Drive (32MB Cache) (Trying to get smaller)
750GB Data

I'm looking at running as ive been told eight 16 slot servers
Would that be another data (No more the half would ever be full)
