Not connecting to steam's master servers after installing plugins
#1
I just started working on my own internal srcds for CS:S a day ago and am already running into some connection errors. I'm using my hamachi IP adress to run hamachi server games for me and my friends to use and, as of last night, everything was running smoothly. However, after going through Drocona's mani-admin-plugin tutorial and following that to install metamod and mani-admin, I started getting a UDP Port error saying that it failed to allocate the dedicated UDP Port. I looked into that and, after getting rid of my -ip "hamachi ip" line in the target field, trying that and having no success, and then putting the line back in-- that error went away. However, now after running my srcds, it ends by saying that it could not establish connection to the Steam servers. Consequently, I can't find or connect to the server. The only thing I've done differently from last night when it was working to now when it's not is installing metamod and mani-admin plugin, so if this problem sounds familiar to anybody, I'd love some feedback.

I'm not 100% sure but you could try +ip instead of -ip, also try adding the UDP port you want to use to the end of your ip so +ip "hamachi ip:UDP port"

I've fixed the allocating UDP port error by just re-port forwarding the same ports. I don't know why I needed to do that but whatever gets the job done. However, now I'm having trouble with connecting to the server after running the srcds.exe <br> I'm not sure whether or not it's just a problem with the steam community at the moment or whether or not something is wrong with my target paths or internet, but at the end of the srcds window, it says that It's adding two Master Server IP adresses and then that it failed to connect to the Steam Servers. I don't even know where to start looking except to start disabling some plugins and seeing if I can find if any are causing it. :\

If you are using Hamachi, the server will not be able to connect to the Master Servers.

Is there a way to run a server without connecting to the master servers? I was running a game through hamachi last night fine, are the master servers required for metamod and/or mani-admin? or is there a way to just bypass them? to what I understand, the master servers connect your server to valve security, but that's all that I know they do.

i believe but am not 100% the master servers list the available servers/games to clients, so it would explain why it let you play on your lan and not via the net

+ip attempts to force the ip address given to the server address
-ip sets the default server ip

The thing is, I'm still trying to run via my hamachi's "lan" server. I wasn't getting problems until installing the admin and metamod plugins so I'm guessing that they are the reason my srcds is calling for a Master server connection. If it's possible to disable that - that's what I would just do.

Is that true of all +/- tags?

+ip and -ip do the same
same goes for
-port and +hostport
also
-maxplayers and +maxplayers

I think the +/- just time differently. Like - executes as the server starts up while + actually changes the value after the server is running.

I always thought you put - for startup commands, and + for commands that can go in your server.cfg.

Anyways, I used Hamachi once or twice, and I really don't like it that much. It doesn't put your server on the internet, only LAN. The Steam Master Servers are only to get your server on the internet list, so Mani and all that will run fine. Hamachi made people in my server disconnect randomly due to Invalid Steam Ticket, and yes we all were using valid Steam accounts Toungue

Hamachi is only good for private sessions, and can not replace the normal internet server that SRCDS was made for.
