40 slots 100 tic
#16
Also, to rent a dedicated server to run 1 SRCDS server is a bit of a joke. You might as well pay less, and have someone else run it for you.

Through a GSP, and 40 slot CSS Server would be around $50. You would be paying over twice that for your average dedicated box.

Yea If you would run more then 1 server then your own box might help, but being its only 1 server it will be lighter on your pocket to get it from a good game server provider

well alright, if it was 2 40 slot servers @ 100 tic. If not would some cheap dual core handle it? something like in in the E4000 range

no, not at no 100tick, definatly not. you would need a high end dual-core/low end quad-core.

Read my post fooz, you are NOT getting ANY server to run 100 tickrate above 20 slots.
Not even a QX...... CPU that costs 1500$

Drocona, I use to run a 40 slot 100 tic server a little while ago. It worked perfectly fine. It stayed in the 90 tic range. I understand SRCDS only uses one processor. What Dual Core should i be looking into for 80 slot 100 tic in total of amount of slots distributed throughout servers?

You must of had a lot of choke and loss if you tried it.

"66tic = max slots 32"

I've seen plenty of servers way higher then that. For example noob galore's servers, Are in the 50 slot range, and seem to be running perfectly fine with 66 tick.

Anyway i use to have an Intel C2Q Q6600 4 GBs RAM. and It actually ran well, i must be missing something.

Ok, they set srcds to use more than one core.

This doesnt make sense to me. As far as I know srcds isnt parallelized. Has that changed?

You can't set it for more then one core.
However, by not defining the core the OS will automatically manage the load.

Please do not PM me for server related help
