40 slots 100 tic

What processor would be able to handle 1 server @ 40 slots and 100 tic. Preferably 512 fps. I want it to be able to handle it very well.

I wanna pay the cheapest possible price for a dedicated server to run 40 slots @ 100 tic.. if not 66 tic would be fine. I don't care if it's a single or dual core.

Well having a quick look on OCuK you can get a Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.8Ghz for £90. That will do it nicely

40 slots is recommended 33 to 66 tick. 100 is just too much lol.

For 100 tick, it can actually be worse, because if your internet or hardware ever lacked, it could lag the entire server. Keep it 66 tick, max.

I use to run a 40 slot 100 tic on my q6600 a little while back with no problems. What do you think a Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz can do for me in terms of tickrate/slots 100 and 66 tic

hmm not to sure about it, they are old xeons, but their clock speeds are pretty high. id say its possible but i would suggest you want for some one with more knowledge about slotd and tickrate to post

Like dualcore said, 100tick for a 40 slot server is way too much.
The tickrate will never be 100 when it's full, on average the tickrate will stop dropping when the player count gets above 20.

That's why we say:
100 tick = max slots 20
66tic = max slots 32
33tic = everything

Heh, I went on a 64 slot server... when they were with 40 people... the tick went from 40 - 5... Imagine... O_o
