so your argument is, profit organizations will help others because they will be able to make some ads later? and if they couldn't make those ads they would go away and not help?

[this is a question for understanding, I do not (yet) judge or comment this opinion :-)]

Yes and no. I think it should be a give and take thing. So they help people(give) then they are able to use the advertising space we have available(take). This methodology should not be used for clans/non-profit organizations.

I've liked the idea of having the Commercial Pit here. It's totally different than on any other site. Every other site is restricting the commercial stuff that we all know is out there. It's not bad thing that GSPs can keep contact to users via these forums and advertise their own services in the Commercial Pit. It's quite obvious that in the Commercial Pit there are companies advertising their services. It's up to the consumer to decide whether they want to buy anything from the companies.

For example loopyman, Beaverbeliever and dualcore (all have posted in this thread) have advertisements in their signatures. Then also indirectly BehaartesEtwas is selling the fpsmeter every FPS related thread. How is that not commercial?

I say allow the Commercial Pit with some post limit (is there limit now?). If somebody abuses the forum, just remove the user and the problem is solved.

Firstly, how do I have an advertisement in my signature? There is no advertisement in my sig. Also, it is limited, but I think it should be more post's needed, some people (names will not be mentioned) do not help anyone, just advertise. That is NOT what this forum was made for. I think the count should be higher for GSP's, and other profitable companies, to prevent only from using this forum for advertisement.

Agreed, possibly a posts per day kind of thing?

But if it was posts per day they wouldn't even bother posting the ads because I wouldn't think that it would draw that many customers to them.

I'm talking like a post per day count of at least 1, all of people that just dump their ads here have below that.

Eh even than, people would just bump post's. And Golio, they would not post because they have no use here other than posting the ads. Many people ONLY post ads, and nothing more. That is not what this forum is about.

Just say the names. Admin can then remove their user account. Problem solved. Unless you say the names nobody will know who you mean. You could mean anybody in this thread for that matter.

It takes 5 minutes to remove the users. After the cleanup it takes few weeks for the same users to get their post count up again (with new username). Then if the admins don't like the advertisements again, they can remove the user again. As I see it, it's much less work for admins than it is for those GSP representatives to get the post count up.

I'll also have to add that I don't mind at all users just posting advertisements in the Commercial Pit. The rules are that they can post once a week without bumping. It's not much. That's why there is the forum named Commercial Pit.

maybe then there should be a separate board clans/non-profit orgs. profit commercials should be allowed only in the commercial pit, non-profit ads only in that new board.

also: do we have a problem at all with the current situation? I don't think the rules need much change again...

PS: the fps meter is non-profit. I do not earn money with it, I barely cover half of the costs for the root.

I think the non profit board and for profit boards would be better...

I say leave it the way it is. The new rules we have defiantly correct some of the major problems with the Pit.

But do you not find it a problem that people are only using this board as advertisement purposes only? Not helping the community?

No, I agree certain individuals do abuse that scetion, and I think action should be taken. I think that we should add a rule that you must have 20 constructive/helpful posts between postings in the Pit as well.
