About the adding to favorites:

The favorites are saved by IP, so if you enter a hostname it saves the current IP of that hostname. It does NOT update the next day for example, if the IP of the server changed, it won't be in the favorites anymore.

You cannot make your dynamic ip not change, unless you get a static ip from your ISP.

Like I said steam://connect/<dyndns-mask> The dyndns part direct you to the right IP.
