Best tool to translate big scanned PDFs
#1
I have a large scanned PDF with over 200 pages that I need translated. It includes images, tables, and text in two columns. I’d like to keep the original layout as much as possible and avoid breaking the file into smaller parts. Accuracy is important because it’s a work project.

Has anyone used a tool that can handle this?

For big scanned PDFs, I’ve had the most consistent results with pdft. It can process large files without size issues, and it works well with OCR so it can read scanned text accurately. When I translated a 180-page scanned report, it kept the tables, headings, and even page numbers aligned. You can also choose between different output formats if you need to edit later. The best part is you don’t have to split the file, which saves a lot of time.

That sounds exactly like what I need. The fact it works with OCR and keeps the structure makes it worth a try. I’ll test it on my document.
