RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
PLZ HELP!
I'm still stuck on step 3. I did what he wrote, and the same thing happens to me (Split second, then it goes away)
I think I have installed it, there is a folder in my C called HLServer, and in it there are
Clientregistry.blob
HLDSUpdateTool.exe
HLDSUpdateTool_readme
Install.log
unwise.exe
Thats it, when I try the .bat file (mine is called Update.bat) It opens up for a split second, then it goes away. What do I do???

I can't read it, it goes by too fast, but I took a "Print Screen", and this is what I got from it
"C:\Temp>c:\HLServer\hldsupdatetool -command update -game tf -dir c:\HLServer
Checking Bootstrapper Version ..."
And that's where is stops, sometimes it says something else, but I am unable to read /take a pic of that.

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
just wondering, If I want to add a custom server, do I have to find all the text files, or Do I just download a map from FPS banana, and place it in the maps folder, and I can automatically play it?

Mooga Wrote:What do you mean by "All the text files?"
You can simply add the maps like you normally would from FPS banana.
You can play the map by adding the map to your server's start up command or by using the changelevel command with rcon.
The maps are finished download, and there are text files for all of the maps, and they are in different languages. Here is the CTF_2fort.txt
"Objective:
To win a point, steal the enemy's intelligence briefcase and return it to your basement.
Other Notes:
Players drop the intelligence when they die. Dropped intelligence returns to its Base after 60 seconds.
"
If I edit this, and I use this map in my server, the other people will read this RIGHT???

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
PLEASE HELP!!!
I have done EVERYTHING to the exact detail of the tutorial, the only things I did (changed server.cfg wise) is change the server name, and added a rcon password (no player password) oh, and added the lines for faster respawns. How do I make this???
Could it be because I have it set to port 59909??? Would it work if I opened another port (27015) for it. Thing is that I can't find the password for my router... so.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
Noob ALERT!

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
That .txt file there is the "infomation" you'll see when you choose teams.
If you changed something in it, people could see it.
Try to use port 27015.
If you have lost your password to your router, try to contact your manufacturer of that router, and ask what you can do about it.

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
All you have to do is restart your router then you will be able to access your router... If it is linksys by default it's admin admin

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
okay, so I reset my router, and I opened port 59909, and all the ports between 27000 and 27020. Still nothing
@realchamp I don't understand what you mean, what .txt file?

RE: Tutorial: How to setup a TF2 server
Never mind
Thank you so much to everyone that did or even tried to help me. The problem I had was that my ports that I forwarded where in TCP format, and they needed to be UDP. After that, it worked like a charm
THX!
now I just need to get beetles AND source mod on there. Anyone have a guide or something?
