It would be nice to have a comment in or before Step #1, to say where to download the tool. I found it at http://store.steampowered.com/about, to the bottom right of the screen.

Also, "Team Fortress 2 Dedicated Server" appears on the Tools menu in Steam. It's interesting to note that there's also a "Source Dedicated Server", but that [apparently] doesn't work for TF2. The TF2DS version downloads into Program Files\Steam\<username>\source 2007 dedicated server.

Does anybody know, for a Windows box, what's good about the Tools download vs the updater?

The stand alone installer works best. The steam version generally has updating issues if you can even get the thing working.

There is a link to the tool on the SRCDS.com website as well under the Tutorials.

Broom,

It appears the server is loading, but beetlesmod is what's giving you all those errors.

Even though the console shows that output, does the server come online at all, or does it stay offline?

I also assume you're hosting on your home computer correct?

Can some one help me? What am I missing from my server files, in the cmd prompts it says "Particles: Missing 'particles/error.pcf' " when I try to start the server. Then a windows error message comes up titled "srcds.exe- Entry Point Not Found" in the message it says "The procedure entry point GetCrashHandlerFactory could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0_s.dll." the server eventually starts running, but when others try to connect it says that the server is not responding or that the server timed out. I can however connect no problem. Also at the end of the cmd prompt it says "Unknown command "mp_teststalemate"", it also says "exec: couldn't exec ctf_2fort.cfg". I used your standard config file, just changed the name, added a rcon password and a temp player password. I tried running the updater multi. times to see if I was missing any files, but it doesn't download anymore files, so I assume that I have all the files that I need. Please help.

EDIT: Damnit, I had to delete my other post again. Mooga, please edit this post with the reply from him :p
Yes SRCDS is legal to use. Valve are the one who made - and published it :-)
