L4D?
#1
Is there any bugs in l4d servers... how much do they run (as in how much usage)? I needed a detailed description... Bugs as in, ways people can hack you? Or fuck your server up in anyway?

I'm planning on hosting on hosting a versus L4D... But I want to know how much it will take up, so I know if I have to host on a secondary server computer... Wink

Info please? Big Grin

*Include extra info you know that isn't retarded Wink*

All i know is that L4D uses more cpu than any other srcds server because of the AI director (its still active in vs) Usually steam fixes the bugs that come up, install metamod and sourcemod for admin usage too, uhh nothing else that i really know about l4d servers

An 8 slot versus server will use up about 1mbit bandwidth, I started some L4D instances yesterday and 2 versus servers filled up a complete P4 2.8GHz CPU.

The only problem I ran into so far is people voting you off your own server which I think was pretty weird when it happened LOL

I think he was referring to me getting kicked from my own server by those built in vote system.

Also, a hint: sourcemod?

sourcemod is the admin addon, just add your steam id to the admins.cfg file located in addons/sourcemod/configs

Again, use the search a bit!

I looked for sourcemod 5 days ago and it took me 10 minutes to find out the normal sourcemod doesn't work for L4D and to find the new updated version on the sourcemod forums....

It's really not that hard, you need version 1.7.x

how much bandwidth do you guys think it'll take per month? i know half the time that i play l4d it cant find a dedicated server, so my guess is that my l4d server will run full most of the time. so how much bandwidth would a 8 slot server require? Btw, it has slightly higher cpu usage but about the same ram usage as 24 slot tf2 server (~300)

Also, guys ditch mani, sourcemod is the way to go now, and yes, you need the new beta sourcemod for l4d, the good stable version does not have support for l4d.

Word on directing ppl to do a bit of searching. Myself though, I do claim of not being able to use the right words though, but for this...hmmm, like a case of doing the work for someone else??

I just wanted to clarify what you were saying Dracona as I gather you're not using SM or w/e, therefore do not really care about it's details.

SM's current stable release version is 1.1.0
MM:S (required to run SM) current stable release is 1.7.0

For L4D, specifically, it requires the development or snapshot version of SM 1.2.x. MM:S 1.7.0 also.

He would find that info on their homepage at least too. Big Grin
