Server-Side Bandwidth Rates Issue
#1
Hi thereSmile

Im am currently having some difficulties with my server in regards to the client pings. When the server slots obtain 6 & above, the clients get remarkable pings. This is obviously related to my settings i have configured in my CFG file or either the number of slots cannot exceed a certain number given the fact that my upload speed is such a value.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Bandwidth rates:

decalfrequency 0
sv_maxrate 30000
sv_maxunlag .5
sv_minupdaterate 50
sv_maxupdaterate 66
sv_minrate 15000

Server Specs:

- 12 man
- 66 tic

System Specs: ( Not sure if this is necessary but i will post anyways)

- Vista Home Premium SP1
- Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 6000 + 3.10 Ghz
- 3 Gigs of RAM

Download/Upload Speed:

- Download = 6888 kb/s
- Upload = 510 kb/s

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information pertaining to this current issue or possibly inform me on how to calculate the bandwidth rates in order for the pings to be stable, regardless of the # of clients present.

Thanks in advance,

Wes Big Grin

That won't be enough upload bandwidth for more than 5 people or so. You might have good enough system specs.

Hey Wes,

Your bandwidth isn't sufficient to run the server if you get high pings, I've written an article on our wiki for rates here:
