Startup parameters
#1
I know this has been discussed on the mailing list but I still cannot find it on there or anywhere else, with L4D not requiring much config running multiple servers of the same set of files would be nice. So what are the startup parameters to specify different directories for logs, cfg, addons, or other things?

i thought it was something like "-logsdir logs1" etc etc

If so this would be helpful to add to the FAQs section as even Valve's wiki doesn't document it.

As for the server.cfg you simply add +exec server2.cfg to the commandline to load that one on startup.

Addons are the same for EVERY server running from 1 single install

Code:
motdfile motd.txt        //The MOTD file to load
mapcyclefile mapcycle.txt    //File to load mapcycle from
sv_logsdir C:\SRCDS\cstrike\logs    //Folder in the game directory where server logs will be stored.

Those are to be entered in the server.cfg

I too am trying to run multiple instances of the server from a single installaion, however adding +exe server#.cfg to the start parameters has no effect for me. Running the command once the server has started, however, does work as intended. Is this something that can only be done from the command line or should it work as a shortcut parameter as well? I've also tried any other possible variations of the command that I can think of (-exe server2.cfg, +server2.cfg, -server2.cfg, etc.) still with no effect...
But thanks for the other bits of info there, they will prove useful as I continue to expand my dabbling into Source Servers. Big Grin

Well basically what +exec server.cfg does is execute the cvar "exec server.cfg" in the console. So it should work in the commandline.

Not sure why it's not working... guess I'll mark it as one of many "bugs" with the L4D server files and leave it at that for now. Another question though, is there a way I can run different maplists for different instances? Tried the "maplist" cvar in the server.cfg file, but it just turns back an unknown command error...

Only the mapcycle can be set.

Startup parameters are one of the numerous parameters that you should use when you're starting your company. It refers to variable data that will be used by your startup to monitor and maintain the system. Need to get Concrete driveway Repairs Perth and learn more new ideas for concrete. It is a key variable that is required by every startup to operate in a proper manner. In order to make sure the startup works properly and has all the necessary functionality, you have to define a set of parameters which will help with future optimizations and improvements.
