Unknown command admin
#1
I have followed the tutorial on this forum, installed metamod and binded "h" as the menu button.

when im on my server i cant get the menu up and the console says "unknown command "admin" and then nothing happends.

I have added my steam id to the clients.txt and adminlist.txt, i have also added exec mani_server.cfg to the server.cfg file.

Ludde, I always say: Start over and follow EVER SINGLE STEP, do NOT skip even 1, even the ones you think that "aren't needed" because that's where 99% of the people go wrong.

NO! he need his clients.txt to ID him as an admin.
in the console type status and get your name and steam ID
http://www.wildfireclan.co.uk/?act=maniclients
use this to generate the file(really helpful)
then put it here.
G:\Servers\Team Fortress 2 Server\orangebox\tf\cfg\mani_admin_plugin

You don't need clients.txt in order for the plugin to work, he just misinterpreted a step or skipped it.

Oh i got it, did you make the VDF file?
mani need that file to run
G:\Servers\Team Fortress 2 Server\orangebox\tf\addons\CreateVDF.exe
then use the wildfire clan stuff to make your clients.txt (Really helpful)
you don't need adminlist.txt that is for older mani versions.

Oh no...
DO NOT USE MANI WITH TF2.
Use BM or SM.

Because TF2 is growing fast, and Mani is dead. He rarely updates and it has a bad history of crashing and not working well in TF2. I never used it on my server because he refused to add TF2 support. When he finally did, it lacked features and had many bugs. From what I've heard and read, it's really buggy.

BeetlesMod is VERY easy to set up and will give you all the basic admin features. For the more plugins and such, check out SourceMod.

I fixed my problem, there was only a typo in the config.cfg.
