TF2 download the files for a dedicated server
#1
I've been trying to download the files for my dedicated TF2 server, I've ran HLDSTOOLUPDATE. Now when I open cmd and type

c:\HLServer\hldsupdatetool -command update -game tf -dir c:\HLServer

This is what displays

Checking bootstrapper version...
Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer, WinSock Error 10060 "Connection times out"

I'm running windows xp, and have a linksys router. I have setup port range forwarding, and also have all firewalls off.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Quite a few, and its still not working, I was able to get the files on my desktop pc but this laptop still wont connect. It worries me because I plan on using the laptop as the server.

I'll finish the download and copy the files over. I hope this doesn't create problems later on when trying to run the server.

Copying over is fine.
The issue is that if the DL tool can't connect to the Steam servers, running a server will be problimatic since it can't heartbeat to the Steam Servers :-\

Well then again, it could be Valve being dumbasses. The content servers can go down for a bit. Sometimes it takes me a bit to get the files.
