Hey i just wanted to ask a few questions, first off, Whats the BEST Linux version to run off, I'm planning on getting Ubuntu Server Edition (32 bit, because i heard for 64 bit you can't achieve 1000fps for css)

650$ for that is a complete ripoff, that processor is a budget CPU, it's like what the celeron is for Pentium 4.

650$ can get you a LOT more than the above setup... Are you using newegg? if so I can browse a bit, I'm sure I can get a better system under 600.

WOW! Thanks you cought be in my tracks >.< I'm using tiger direct, it was really 549.99 but the shipping is 55.70 so i guess i was $50 off lol, if you could browse for me that would be awsome! because i have NO CLUE where to look, i know a lot about the inside of servers and computers and how they work but not where to get them at good prices.

I was just browsing a bit on newegg.com. Here's a quikcy I just threw in:

Core 2 Quad E6600 (4x 2.4GHz)
Asus P5K Motherboard
2x 1GB G.SKILL 1066MHz High performance RAM (PC2 8500)
2x 250GB Samsung Spinpoint (SATA-II, 3.0Gb/s)
GeForce 6200LE (64MB, since there is no onboard video, 19$ card)
ATX case with a 225mm ventilator in the side, 450W power supply

Total 604.93$

If you have an old PCIex16 video card lying around you can remove the video card.
Doubling the memory (4x 1GB will bring it to 680$)
This is without shipping, since you need to enter your zip code Smile

Instead of the Q6600, check out the Q9300.

Its based on the new chip, also runs at 2.5Ghz.

Yeah I put that in the configuration first for him, it's low watt usage (45nm cpu), not that much gain in speed as far as I know but I haven't seen any benchmarks so I could be wrong here.
It adds about 50$ to the price of the Q6600.

Not sure he might be in Canada so newegg would be out if he is. Toungue
If he lives in the US he is alright then.

Well you should be able to find the above hardware in any computer store at around the same price (maybe even cheaper)

It's all parts you have to build the actual machine yourself, but it's cheap as you can see.

Also just follow the manual if you don't know how to build a machine, it's really not that hard.

iv built computers before so i think i can handle it but if its a quad core 4x 2.4GHz does that mean its 9.6GHz?

No you can't add up all the cores to 1 speed, every core runs 2.4GHz, see it as if they are all separate processors just placed into 1 chip.
