RCON Connection issues
#1
I've got the latest versions of MAP, MMS and SM running on my hl2mp SRCDS (LINUX).

I've tried putting the rcon_password "mypassword" in the mani_server.cfg, server.cfg and in the ./srcds_run command (rcon_password mypassword) but I can never get it to work either in my player console or using HLSW.

I've also tried the rcon_password in all three but still no luck, am I missing something here? Why can't I get this to work? It worked fine using HLSW when SRCDS was running on my Windows Server but ever since running it on Ubuntu 7.10 I cant get it to connect.

Please help, thanks.

The error I get in HLSW on the LAN is: HLSW ERROR: Connection failed (No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. )

I have no firewall on that server - totally lost here.

Is the server listening on the correct IP address?
set rcon_address in the server.cfg and see if that's of any help.

should it be the lan IP or public? I dont have a static ip externally but I do on that server internally. Thanks

Always the internal if you are behind a router/gateway since the router/gateway owns the external IP no other computer can get it.

Still failed, I've got the rcon_password in the mani cfg, server cfg, and the start command - what else do you think it could be?

I don't have any experience with linux, but are there any firewalls or programs that can block the port (27015 tcp)

There is nothing blocking 27015 - there is no firewall installed on the ubuntu server.

I am totally lost here - I have 2 servers running identically, one on Ubuntu 7.10 server and one on windows server 2008. I cannot get rcon access through hlsw on the ubuntu server
