Hello I'm all new to this and I'm trying to get my own dedicated server up and running. I'm using my laptop as the server, it has 2GHz processor, 512MB DDR2, and 160GB HD..I want to start up a deathmatch server. How do I go about doing it correctly?
PS..This maybe a dumb question to some, but do I have to buy another copy of CSS in order to put a server up, because I only have one account with all my games on it and I don't want to make the server under that account.

Can this still work if I'm using a router? Because my IP shows the 192.168...27015.. I can't locate it on steam when searching for the server.

Thanks for the help guys. I successfully have my dedicated server up and running, but I have just a few more problems. When I'm on my gaming system and I enter my server and type in "rcon_password.." in the console then I try to do a basic command like rcon_say hi.. I get the can't connect to remote message.. I enabled DMZ and forward the ports 27015 and 27005..so I don't get it. Do I have to put my steamID in a file or something so the system can recognize me or something? Thanks in advance.

try typing rcon_address <ipofserverhere> before typing typing rcon_password and rcon <command>. If that doesn't work either try adding rcon_address <iphere> in the server.cfg
