Setting up a TF2 Server
#1
I'm interested in setting up a Team Fortress 2 dedicated server on a spare computer that I have.

Specs:
-Intel Quad Core 2.4
-10k RPM HD
-2GB RAM
Running on T10M comercial grade internet.
Computer is behind a router, but with ports 1-65000 open.

I've already setup c:/HLServer, and /tf with all the needed files. I've also downloaded the latest Beetlesmod, copy'd and pasted the folders into /tf.

I'm not really sure what to do next, as it's been a great many years since I've hosted a server back in the first year of TFC release. I've read a bunch of tutorials already, but haven't had that much luck in getting the server.cfg, or the beetlesmod to work.

What I'm looking for is this:
-24 player server
-cp_dustbowl only
-4 second respawn timer
-admin for multiple people
-votekick system
-hlstatsx addon
-class limiting

I have no idea how to configure beetlesmod to do all this, I've played around with it already, but the server won't start properly. Without beetlesmod, and everything at default, the server runs, in lan, not internet. sv_lan 0 doesn't fix it, and even running the computer in DMZ mode doesn't fix it. Exec server.cfg gives me a unable to exec server.cfg error.

Just wondering if anyone could help me out to get all the functions working, thanks for your time in reading this.

The server will always show as "LAN server" but if the ports are forwarded correctly it will show up for internet to the rest of the world (do a search on gametiger.net or alike at the IP shown here: http://www.wahtismyip.com).

Make sure the server.cfg is in the cfg folder, also make sure it's called server.cfg and NOT server.cfg.txt (that happens when you save in notepad without selectin "all files" from the dropdown menu)

I'm not really into TF2 and beetlesmod, I'm sure someone around here is and will drop you a reply about that.

That's quite simple to do actually.
If you contact me via the AIM SN I have listed here I can possibly walk you through it so you can learn what to do. Or if you PM me a list he of the admin's steam_IDs (THE NUMBERS NOT THE NAME) as well as what class limits you want I can try to make some configs.

As for HLstatsX... it gets tricky

EDIT: You're much better off contacting me so you can customize your server. It's really easy to learn how to edit the configs.

Well I got the majority of the server set up, thanks a ton Mooga! Just one problem I can't seem to fix, even when I have everything set right.

The server still wont show up in internet games list. For anyone.

sv_lan 0 is in the config, I've also tried putting it in the start line when starting the server up.

Ports 27000-27050 are enabled for the pc hosting the server, the IP of the pc hasn't changed. I've also tried putting the pc in DMZ mode which eliminates the fact that you need to open ports as DMZ mode opens all 1-65000 or something.

Using router/firewall Etherfast Cable/DSL Router Linksys BEFSR81, updated firmware. I'm doing everything right, but the server just won't show. I have to be missing something!!

Any ideas?

I found the problem, my router was trying to open the ports more then once, it cancels everything for those ports,

I had 27000-27050 open, and 27015 open in another part, i took off one, and it worked.

Just a couple last questions, know any public votekick systems where you just type /votekick # (the players #) in console to start a vote kick? or something like that.

and, how do I set it so people on admin list, or "preferred" list, are not bound by class restrictions?
