do you know by any chance, what size the motd box is?

The motd box doesn't really have a set size. I would try to keep it at around 800 width max.

It's not fixed, varies depending on resolution the client is using.
We tried using a fixed size image as the motd on our TF2 servers, but on lower resolution screens, people got a lot cut off... All I can suggest for most accesibility and ease on the eyes, fade/gradient the sides of your images to blend in with the blackboard (if we are referring to tf2?)...

You can find a tutorial on how to create a MOTD that seamlessly integrates into the TF2 chalkboard here.
It also covers all the basics of MOTD creation, so it's usefull for all Source games.

all you really need from that tutorial is that chalkboard image, and some html/css knowhow.
I tried getting an image of the backboard, but it never seemed to blend quite as well as the one from that tutorial. lol |
