So I've been trying to make a dedicated server for a while now, and either I have a crazy problem that few have, or I missed something in the fine print of the many tutorials I have read regarding the subject.
Here are the things that I have done to remedy the problem thus far:
-I set up a static ip
-Opened these ports: UDP 27000-27015, 27020, 2713, 1200 : TCP 27020-27050 and 27015
-Forwarded all the ports stated above
-Tried both the console and the GUI version of hl2 dedicated server
And yes, when I try to connect/find it, I use the external ip you find on whatismyip.com.
So is there anything I might have missed? Thanks for any help.

Do you mean in order to test it out? No, I just know it doesn't work because its not on gametiger and my friends can't connect to it.

Nope, just that the server isn't responding when other people try to find it through favorites.

That's not a weird problem, it's the router blocking it, check the port forwarding again, update the firmware might help too.

Eh for me it is. Whenever someone's router was blocking it, it didnt show up in the masterlist. (I assumed it showed up because he never said he did)

Funny how the poster talks about a problem and doesn't actually name what the problem is so I assumed by this line:
Quote:And yes, when I try to connect/find it, I use the external ip you find on whatismyip.com.
and this one:
Quote:Yeah, it works fine that way.
That the problem is:
It doesn't show up at the internet list but it does do on the LAN?
Which indicates the router is not working correctly

I'll attempt to fix the port forwarding in a couple minutes. How would I go about updating the firmware however?
Edit yay:
I tried setting DMZ on my router, and from what I heard that opens all ports right? Well I used it, same result as before, just in case that would mean anything about the router blocking the server.
And ya, I guess I never specifically said the problem... sorry, I figured that was assumed.

Yeah, no problem, I got what you meant
The firmware can usually be updated at the manufacturers website, find your router there and there should be "firmware" around on that page
