Ya that's good. If you want to make it a little more robust, invest in a couple of 74gb 10k RPM drives and put them in a raid. You won't need 320gb of storage for a server, and having faster drives in a raid will give you better read/write speeds and reliability.

I think he wants to know how many slots he could run on that server while keeping them pretty good (no lag, etc)

I wouldn't be a good person to answer this for you, but I'd say two or three 24 man servers.

Just a note, if its cheaper to get a smaller hard drive, I probably would and if anything, be more concerned with the speed of the HD.

About 120 100 tickrate slots should be good. Now with the bandwidth, if ALL slot were used 24/7 it would bottle neck you to: 58. Course thats 24/7 so you can go much higher.

Ok, cleared up again...

Spartanfrog, may I advise you that other people can be right too, nobody knows all, like in this case, these guys have some good points both in this and the other thread, obviously something I explained didn't actually get understood by you as I explained but we'll work on that.

To the other poster, my information in this thread (http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/5466) on bits and bytes is correct, using common sense and reading you post it seems I didn't explain it into full detail and you misread some parts, so I added some more details to get rid of the confusion. (also removed a typo where I had written 2Gbit instead of 2GByte, sorry for that error)

Now to continue this thread:

My E6600 has been running at a lot of huge LAN parties running 75% 100 tick, and 25% 75 tick slots. It holds at 85% CPU (I don't have anything to prove it other than words, if you want screenies or stats you'll have to wait till July when the LAN is there again).

That E6750 will run 100 slots at 100 tick, 120 is in my opinion a little bit enthousiastic, I doubt the "1333MHz" FSB will make a 20 slot difference....

So my answer is : 100 slots max
