You have to forward your ports before you can host a server on the internet, if the ports are forwarded correctly it will succeed in establishing a connection.
Please search for portforwarding
As far as I know now is that you have to be real lucky to be able to host and play on the same machine, but again you SHOULDN'T

I probably shouldn't, but I got a new, very good, computer...
4 mbit, 3071 MB RAM, 2.4 GHz prossesor...
I think my computer is good enough for me to host and play on...
Portforwarding... I'm new at the computerlanguage too...
Do you know how I can host and play from the same computer?

Is it only for Routers? Or is it for switches too...?

It is probably something Valve made because most people cannot join any servers. I can but that is with outdated files. So the latest update probably stopped people from hosting and playing from the same computer.

Valve made steam. Valve is the actually company. Steam is just the delivery system.

What do you mean not online? Is it working or just not able to be seen?

Okay... I can't see it, but the VAC Secure was activated... Maybe it's because I'm behind a router on my laptop...
