What hardware do you run?
#1
It's interesting to see who runs what servers on different hardware. Just post what servers you run, the tickrate, and what hardware they're on.

Surf DM Server, 66 tick, 32man, CSSDM
Private Match Server, 66 tick, 12man

Both on a 2.8Ghz P4 with 2GB RAM.

Currently I have 2 machines. One running dual xeon 2.8 w/ 4gbs ram win2k3 server and another dual xeon 3.0ghz irwindale w/ 4gbs of ram running ubuntu server edition. Only using the 2.8 currently and so far I have: 1 100tick css 500fps, 1 66tick css 500fps, 1 66tick tf2 500fps, 1 world in conflict server and 1 cs 1.6 500fps. Still plenty more room on that one only seen the cpu load get to 25%, just need some customers Smile.

edit:: forgot to add both them are running 10,000rpm drives on raid1

Core 2 Quad Q6600 - 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM.

2 x 32 slot DODS - 66Tick 500fps
1 x 30 slot DODS - 66Tick 500fps
1 x 26 slot DODS - 66Tick 500fps

2 x 32 slot TF2 - 66Tick 500fps
1 x 24 slot TF2 - 66Tick 500fps

hlstatsx on all of them, with mysql on the box... All servers are usually full, and load is around 70%. Bandwidth usage hits around 18-20mbit too... Over 8GB every hour Big Grin

You can check our server hardware usage here: http://www.gtfogaming.co.uk/dbservhardware.php

I'm running only one server currently, a TF2 100-Tick 500FPS 2fort 24/7.
2xXeon 5335 dual-cores @2GHz
4GB RAM
2x10k RPM SCSI, RAID 1

Utterly overpowered for one server, I know Smile but I do plan to add more in the future. I just need to find a free web-based admin...

Cheers!

C2D E6600 (2x 2,4GHz)
2x 512MB Kingston HyperX 800MHz memory
GeForce 6600GT TOP (I know you dont need one in a server but this ones connected to a TV Smile)

HDD:
2x 500GB WD
1x 320GB WD
1x 280GB Maxtor
1x 200GB Maxtor
1x 40GB WD System backup drive

Primarily LAN party gameservers and fileserver
Gameservers:
1x 20 slot CSS: DM @ 75 tick
1x 20 slot CSS: GG @ 75 tick
1x 16 slot CSS @100 tick
1x 20 slot CSS: Surf/DM @ 100 tick (yes I know we always say you can't run 100 tick above 18, it took me 3 days of tweaking to get it to work)
2x 9 slot Hidden Source @ 100 tick

1x 32 player BF2
1x 24 player UT2k4

Also have a TS2 server running on it

Always connected to a 1gbit/s switch that's plugged directly into the backbone on the LAN party with fiber, stands in a mini datacenter cooled with airco and stuff, all free cause it's a LAN party Toungue
If the server gets overloaded at some point one or two servers get transfered to a second "backup" server which is a P4 2,8GHz with 1GB RAM

Truth is you really don't need that much RAM

I always say to people: RAM is the least of your problems Smile

Quite a lot I hear the "OMG I have 4gigs of ram in my uber server"
I'm like: Nice, but you're pro'ly not even using 1 gig of it which means the other 3 gig is pure wastage!

Kentsfield 6600
4GB RAM
2X180GB HDD

The Processor runs so good i allmost wet myself thinking about it
+We dont load our servers at all, we run minimun game servers on them, the 4gigs is for some of the heavy games, but like someone said we barely ever use it.
