#1
Hello!

What would you guys have to say about running a dedicated TF2 server with max 24 players, tickrate 66 and fps_max 600 on the computer below ?

Intel P4 2,4GHz 533FSB
Intel 865P Neo MB
Samsung 1GB DDR 333MHz
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM IDE 60GB
10/10 full duplex connection
Windows XP PRO SP2

Here is my configured server.cfg file for input aswell.

50 players total on 66 tick should work I think

sv_maxupdaterate 66
sv_mincmdrate 33
sv_maxcmdrate 66
sv_client_cmdrate_difference 1
sv_client_predict 1
sv_client_interpolate 1
sv_client_min_interp_ratio -1
sv_client_max_interp_ratio -1

Turn OFF fps boosting.
When I had WMP open to boost my FPS, the server was maxing out all the time. My server now run full 24 slots at under 50%

I also disabled bandwidth max/min but this is not an option for most Sad

Still have my cpu usage at 95-100% with fps_max 300 instead of 600. Gonna try lower the tickrate to 33.

What are you using to bost your FPS over 60?
Turn THAT off. See if that helps.

Hello,

My TF2 server is using more cpu then it should as well. So, if I turn off my srcdsfpsboost.exe it would HELP the tf2 server, but also hurt everything else running on the box?

Sadly yeah unless you setup a Virtual Server but that would harm the peformance of your server and be another pain in the ass...lol

fpsboost shouldn't hurt anything really, just some weird issues now and then which I still can't understand, it only happens on some servers, I never had any trouble ever for example.

Would Windows Server 2003 be better for running a dedicated TF2 server?
I'm using XP PRO today.

I don't see any difference between running it on 2003 server and XP pro. Mine runs on pro just fine with FPS booster.
