I setup a dedicated source server to play TF2, setup the proper port forwarding, but the server does not show in the internet list. If I go to my favorites and add the server manually (using the public IP) it works fine. My friends can also connect to my server with the public IP. Why is the server not showing up in the internet list?????

Other people outside the server's subnet (ie. friends) cannot find it listed either. In fact, the server is not even hosted at my house (other side of the city) and I can't see it. Any ideas??
It's a router misconfiguration, some routers are unable to route in a way to show it on the internet, You could try waitin 30 mins, if it doesn't show up try a router firmware update. If that doesn't work either you need a new router..

I'm interested in understanding the routing requirements for the server heartbeat. I'm a sysadmin by day, so feel free to throw the gory details at me. Thanks.
Yeah for some reason at first my router took about 40 mins before it showed up. Then it took only seconds. Try using the DMZ option on your router.
Btw, what is your router?

What the router requires is not exactly defined anywhere, we don't know what the problem is with most routers. I do know that stuff like this ONLY happens when being behind a router, switches and server gateways work perfectly fine.
Any NON home use router will work for sure, however these do cost some money (won't be under 50$)
