hi im getting high server loss on my dedicated server
xeon quad core 2.33ghz
6gig ram
CPU running 40% with 12 servers,when I get 60 players plus on the server all servers get high loss 50+.i found 4 of the servers running 1000000 rates changed them back to 30000 haven't tested it yet waiting for servers to fill up.would this be my problem?only happens when I get 60+ players online.
iv contacted my data centre and they said everything is fine there.

Hmm that's a strange issue, I don't think loss has to do anything with those values...

ok iv just up graded to dual quads 8gig ram
still getting loss when more that 30ppl connect.all cfg's look right.it cant hold a decent tick aswell i have media player running.any sugestions??

loss is a network issue, most likely not having anything to do with your server but what is in between your server and you. is everyone suffering from this or just you? you need to take this issue up with your server provider's networking team. if it only happens when xxx number of people or more connect then it sounds like some piece of networking gear is getting overloaded.

yeah thank you thats what i thought (network prob). they say there is no problem and server is only maxing out at 4mbps.ill ring them again

what is the ip of your server and what network provider do they use? not all networks are the same and the source engine is sensitive to congestion.

What is the network connection? Like 10 mbps or something else.

Yes the connection is 10mbps
Im pretty sure that is what the problem is

I think you guys were from the australia hosting thingy, we fixed this in private through steam.
There was a switch/gateway in the datacenter that was broken/didn't work and was causing high losses when the amount of bandwidth increased. They have been relocated and everything works fine now.
