TF2 server.cfg help?
#1
So, I'm a total noob with server.cfg files, and although I've been looking around for a while, I have not found one specific to TF2. I've got a few questions... (I'm running this on Windows 2003 Server, btw)

1. Is it the same as a CS:S cfg?

2. Is there an admin gui? I saw mention of it, but cannot find an executable.

3. How do I specify which maps are played?

If you are thinking "omg noob search" then just ignore me. I'll keep looking and when I find the answer to my question I'll post it here. This is mainly to see if any kind soul will answer my question quicker than I can find the solution. I have been searching for a while, else I wouldn't be asking.

Thanks!

TF2 has most of the same cvars as cs:s. cvarlist is your friend (ie cvarlist sv/cvarlist mp/cvarlist tf)

I don't believe there is an admin gui for TF2...I don't have the game yet.....Usually those are provided by admin plugins.....I'm sure some will be released soon if there isn't a built in admin gui

Edit your mapcycle.txt file and make sure mp_timelimit is something other than 0 so maps cycle through

Here's an xls file I got from a guy on the steampowered forums.

It contains all current cvars for setting up your server and/or client

.zip   tf2_vars.zip (Size: 140.81 KB / Downloads: 380)

What do you mean by edit your mapcycle.txt? What needs editing?
Thx in advance.

Mapcycle does what it's named. It's the map rotation of your server, if you do/don't want a map in the server rotation add/delete from that the file.

Oh, yes I know this. I thought there might be something I was missing, my server was sticking on the same map and it was quite a problem. Then suddenly it started rotating every 30 mins just like I told it to in the mp_timelimit. Very odd. But thank you for replying.

oh, side note.

in the client cvars, notice there's a [+|-]grenade[1|2], similar to the way that tf2 was first discovered in the hl2 sdk?

Yes, I got that list as well. I have built a config that is working pretty well. I've got the list of SV's and MP's plus a copy of my config if anyone needs it.

In a PM. Server config at top, commands at bottom.

FWIW, I could REALLY use a sample server.cfg as well. I'm diein' here -- no docs doesn't make for fun. <Sigh> If you can send it over to me as well I'd much appreciate it.
