Trying to get server online
#1
Hey I've been trying to get my source dedicated server online for the past couple of days and I've had no luck. I've unblocked the right ports and set myself to a static IP but when I start the server it still uses a local address.

Any ideas of what could be going wrong?

BTW I KNOW that this is the srcds forum but I figure if I can get the regular steam server to work I can get srcds to work.

It will always show up with the local IP address, there is no problem here.

Have you tried to get someone from outside your network (from the Internet) to join your server?

I made one a while ago back home and it worked fine. It didn't give me a local address though.

Yeah, because you are connecting to your server locally. So to him, its as if you are joining 192.168.1.101 - which he obviously cannot join because thats a local network address.

Look for your router (i assume you are using one) and look for Counter Strike Source and open all necessary ports. There's more than just 27015 and 27016.

I don't know if this would matter but I think it's only supposed to be port 27015 to 27015 not 27016. That's how mine is and it works perfectly

You can run at any port you like Smile
