hl2 dm server, voice problems

hi
i am running hl2 dm server, it runs very well. but the voice in the
game is not clear. when person on my server play, they say my
voice is not clear and braking up. i have tried every thing i know.
i even change sound card, same thing. if you know some things
i can do please contact me. thank you ex_marine

I doubt this has anything to do with the server at all.

Check your mic first on ventrilo or teamspeak or alike.

hi
thank you any way. it turns out that it was:

voice_overdrive 5
sv_voicecodec voice_speex


after i put in server, the voice worked well.

hi
ok i am working on puting a image and sound in the server. in the
motd file. were do you put the information. i have this information
but i need step by step on how::::::and where can i get a good free web site

I realize that this is an old thread but I would like to make a correction for those with sound problems.
sv_voicecodec voice_speex will not work on Source dedicated servers. It does not recognize this command and will revert back to the default voice codec miles. The correct entry should be:

sv_voicecodec vaudio_speex

voice_overdrive 5 is still a good setting to use.

It took me quite a while to figure this out so I hope I can save someone else valuable time
