Steam server list problem
#1
Question
Ok so i just set up a dedicated cs source server and it works just fine when I directly connect it to the Internet it shows up on the main server list and everything. My problem is when i connected my router so that i can use one computer for the server and the other for playing cs on it will not appear on that main list so ppl can not join it.

I am fairly sure i have the port forwarding correct. Went to portforward.com .

It shows up on game-monitor http://www.game-monitor.com/GameServer/66.188.164.13:27015/1337_Squ4d_-_Clan_Server__Recruiting__No_AutoAwp_100_Tic.html#top

It will not show up on gametiger.net just the other one does when i directly connected to the Internet.

This is my code thingy.
./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 18 +map cs_italy -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 +sv_maxrate 20000 +sv_maxupdaterate 100 -autoupdate

I have tried every differnt combination of the line above that seems to be the only thing that works. Tried +ip commands and i just get the udp error and restarts every 10 sec. The wan ip doesn't work but the lan ip does. My friends can add the server and use it the only problem is with the server list.

I have a netgear router (WGR614v7)

HELP PLEASE i am getting very frustrated!!!!!

You can try DMZ on the router, obviously it's a router problem so you should look into that.

I have DMZ on to 192.168.1.2 lan address. Nothing. Whenever I put my external ip into the command line
./srcds_run -command update -game "cstrike" +ip xx.xx.xx.xx +port 27015 +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 20 -autoupdate -tickrate 100 +fps_max 0

gives me
WARNING: NNET_OpenSocket: bind: Cannot assign requested address
Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port

It only works when i either put my lan ip into it or nothing which gives me 127.0.0.1 .

yes you can only bind the internal (LAN) Ip to the server when behind a router.

Yes and when i do that my server does not appear on the master server list. This is my problem. I don't know if there is someway to get around the NAT settings on my firewall. Like disabling it maybe might work but i don't know if i want to do that.

If you have firewalls on the computers inside your LAN you can safely turn off the router firewall.

I may just give that a try. Would you know exactly how to do that on my netgear router. Or would there be a way just to turn it off just for one computer (not both). Thanks for the help though much appreciated.

This is a similar problem
