how to change TICKRATE with GUI
#1
I want to clear up a few things.

Alto of people download the source dedicated server for counterstrike from steam and it puts a shortcut on your desktop.

Right click it go to properties and in target add -tickrate 66 after -applaunch 205 click apply and okay. Your done!!!!! if you want 100 tick put in 100. Make sure ther is a space between 205 and the -

I know alot of explainations have been for srcds console and thats very confusing. I have done all of the suggestions for the srcds console when i was runing the GUI.......i guess i was confused over the two.

the GUI is what you get when you double click the icon on your desktop.

the console version is what you get when you download the hldstoolupdate.

i hope this cleared it uo for everyone

Hi there,

yes this is the case indeed. The mixup shows up when someone is using the STEAM dedicated server since we always talk about the standalone SRCDS running in console. This is because this version is the main and only professional hosting utility. The steam version is for people that don't know anything about running servers in any way, everything in steam is automated.
If you want to host a good server you will always end up using the standalone in console, because it has its own files and doesn't use GUI the performance will be way higher than the STEAM one.
Second is that mostly people that run it on steam also play at it from that same machine which is NOT recommended at ANY times, it's called a dedicated server with a purpose Wink.

Well not to criticise anyone of course but just to clear up my (our) side. When talking about the SRCDS I (we) read it as in the professional hosting environment, the standalone console for high end and good quality hosting.

This does not mean that we don't encourage low capacity servers ran from your homes, it's just in general the standalone console will always outperform the STEAM one, even at your own house. (I run one here too for testing purposes and I can guarantee it won't lag)

Thank you for the input. and all your help, I just believe there are alot of folks out there who were confused between the two.

I plan to run a stand alone server via console as soon as i'm able to get the means.
