Un-Secured Server
#1
I want an un secured server. My server says 'VAC secured enabled' but I don't want it. I have been banned from VAC secured servers so I want one without VAC.

How do I disable VAC?

Thanks.

Might be a typo but I'll say it anyway, it's -insecure Wink

So where do I put that? In server.cfg?

My server.cfg is blank, so at the top I put -insecure ?

And how do I connect to my server?

you need to put it in your startup command line as

-insecure

Ok, but no one can join and my server says its LAN. I've tried port forwarding and stuff like that but nothing is working..

You're best to start it up using the HLDS.exe icon and set it up the way you want it first (you'll have the choice of setting it to internet or LAN). After this stop the server and then right click on the icon and goto properties and make sure that all the commands are in the target field before restarting the server.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm sure he means srcds.exe, hlds.exe is the old half-life 1 server file.

As for the LAN, servers hosted behind a router or gateway will always say they are LAN but for the rest of the world it shows up as internet if configured correctly.
This brings me to the next point:
port forwarding, see http://www.portforward.com for details on your router and it should work.
