Hey, just wondering if anybody could help here.
I had my srcds server going for a while, then i decided to reinstall as i was having trouble with a mod and wanted a tidy up. Now i have it reinstalled with just mani added installed, and i cant seam to be able to connect to it through the internet nor can my friends. The strange thing is we can see it some times and we can view the info and the latency is ok but then it will suddenly and randomly go to 2000 and we get messages saying "server not responding". I can connect through lan and it all works fine, I have forwarded all the ports i have seen posted in here and other places but still it is not connectable. I had this problem occasionaly before i reinstalled but it worked most of the time we just waited a while and it worked but now it doesn't. If i havent given enough info just say what you want to know and i'll get it up.

Well the server seams to be out there it's just not responding. We can add it into the favourites and view info but we get a latency of 2000 and a not responding message. I'm thinking about reinstalling it again just to see but any idea's first would be great.

Right well I have reinstalled, so its just the basic server, with no addons or server config file etc.... and its still not connectable from the internet. =S
i'm pretty sure all the ports are open i've not changed them since i reinstalled the first time. So I really dont know anymore, so if anyone cares to give me a hand I will very greatfull!

Try to run DMZ option in your router, if that doesnt work try to direct connect your machien to the itnernet. If problems still persist you know it's either your ISP or some software on the machine. If the problem goes away with direct connect you know it's the router.

i cant connect it dorect to the home connection! as i have wireless (which my dad said i had to 2 have) coz he didnt want 2 wire it all up. but i have forewarded the ports to the firewall.
i know this may seem a bit rude but are there any other website (as good as this one) that i could have a read over to find out more about dedicated servers???

Thanks Drocona, I'll give your suggestions a try, just the thing is it was working before I reinstalled it and nothing has changed since then i just cant usderstand it. I'm just trying out a linux box with the server on its quite old though so i dont know how it will run it but its a try.

Latest up date: had a friend almost connecting to the linux server, i could see him connecting in the console as well and he had the sending client info on his screen, but then he lost the connection or something and the ping went sky high again. But its been the closest yet so any more idea's? I was just fidling around with ports on my router thats all, and i tried the dmz but it didnt really do anything i just lost my internet connection.

yeah! 1 of my mats got into the server temporarily for about 5 minutes then the connection timed out! i hae now installed mani admin plugin i doubt if this will make any difrence.
the server is working allright because my other comp and my wee bro can connect using lan even thought sv_lan is 0
any one have any good ideas!
ps i tried connecting it directly past the router to the net and i have removed my firewall from the server pc!
any ideas! wht did it work temporarily!
and also how do you change map properly i just types map ag_rats for emaple into the conlose
and ti said the server had shutdown when my and my bro were playing on lan

I'm not really sure myself where this problem is coming from, I've never seen it before and now there are 2 cases.
If you can provide me with as much info as possible I might be able to come up with some suggestions maybe even a solution. If not we'll have to try figure it out.

a few nore things
its seems to work better just as u start it up! thats wen my mate got connected maybe for the first 5 minutes or so!
and is there anywhere u can get a big list of all the cvars and comands used in the console??

I have the same bt home hub as you then trevor. It worked with this hub before and with my netgear router, did try that just then but it wont connect to internet so i left it.

The exact same thing is happening to me as trevor.
I am getting the connection to steam master servers bit and the vac etc.
My start up line for pc version: C:\HLServer\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +exec server.cfg +maxplayers 12 +map cs_italy
Do you want the linux version to ? basicly the same.
Do you still want ip?
I'm using nortan with anti virus.

Just to let you know... I had server going this morning and people could connect to it and everything after i put in the ports to the router again...IT WAS WORKING finaly..BUT not its not ... i can connect just after start up but then it stops responding again. All I did since this morning was put mani admin on it, thats it =S
