Hello. New to the fourms: I checked out the tutorial on how to properly setup the hlds update tool, but my issue more a less is not with installing that.
The hlds update worked. I added -console -game cstrike +map de_cbble +maxplayers 16 -autoupdate to the srcds.exe target path, ran it. Opened up STEAM, the srcds.exe says
Connection to Steam servers successful.
VAC secure mode is activated.
Yet, I can't seem to see my server in the LAN server list! I seriously have no idea what I am doing wrong. I think it is a router issue. My router is a Dlink 604 router. I have forwarded all the ports, but I don't know. Could someone with a Dlink router actually tell me where to put each thing and everything? I really need some help with this.
Thanks.

is sv_lan set to 0 or 1?
try switching it a bit.
Also try adding your IP to the favorites list, see if it pops up.

hmm try typing
connect [the ip of the computer running the server (lan ip)]:[port]
in the console og CS:S
ps
could be steam just dosent
example i have a lan ip of 192.168.1.100 for my server, and a WAN op of 209.168.XXX.XXX it is completely a internet server and dosnt show on my lan. this is because my router blockes it cuz it thinks it tying to hack my computer lol.

STEAM Master Server List - NOT WORKING?
Just an FYI...
You can't use Xfire or STEAM to test the server if the server and the Test PC are on the same internal network. If you do, you will see the Server will appear in your Lan Games list, but not in the Internet Games list. That's normal. Don't just assume it's not showing in the STEAM list outside from this. It very well may still be working and you just don't know it.
Use this link to test it:
http://www.gametiger.net/search?address=
ENTER YOUR EXTERNAL IP ADDRESS AND PORT, NOT THE INTERNAL ONE LIKE 192.168.....
If it shows up here, you're good to go and it's in STEAM's List and available via Xfire.
Also, You should wait at least 10 minutes between tests for the Gametiger list to show your server. It takes that long some times for it to come through after you make changes and restart your Server.
I wasted 3 days on this same problem and found it was working all the time but couldn't see it at my house. Sounds stupid, but it's true.
Good luck!
