SRCDS - Attracting Viruses
#1
Dear Friends,

I was wondering if SRCDS actually increases your computers vulnerability to getting viruses and spyware. This has been a BIG issue for me because I have already gotten two viruses from SRCDS. Is there a way to counter this?
I am setting up a server ATM. Once finished I may be looking for admins. PM me if interested.

srcds has NOTHING to do with spyware or viruses unless you get things like maps and such from unknown and sketchy websites.

Just don't browse too much pron, warez and hacker sites and you should be fine, if you handle e-mail with care too.

How do you know it's a virus if your firewall and anti-virus are being turned off?

Also Virus' don't turn off stuff.

Well, is it supposed to turn off by itself or something then? Norton gets turned off and I cant turn on the firewall either. Also, when I visit sites that contain anti-virus stuff, it automatically closes.

That's just weird, never seen that before...

maybe you should try reinstall it because that shouldn't happen at all.

Thanks @ Drocona. I am just confirming that it shouldn't because I want to do it for the THIRD time without worry on my new PC. Try to help me on my other topic if you have time. The Two Questions one.

Bolded is your problem.... Norton just sux... end of story. Firewall use Zonealarm, antivirus use AVG, both freeware, both effective.
