I install the linux version of srcds on my linux machine and I am having a problem starting it. I get this message saying
badass:~# ./srcds_1/srcds_run -game cstrike
Invalid game type 'cstrike' sepecified.
Thu Aug 31 22:18:36 EDT 2006: Server Failed
I tried installing about 4 time to and still nothing I get the same message plz help me fix this.

i think -game srcds_l/cstrike would work as well, but never tried it.

Are you sure you installed the cstrike mod and not HL2 or some other? I always get that error if the cstrike folder is not there.(meaning it's not installed)

No, i see what he's doing, he's running srcds_run from ~/ (HOMEDIR) by adding the ./srcds_l which is the directory, HOWEVER the srcds_run script looks for cstrike in the direct that the use is currently in, so srcds_run is trying to read from ~/cstrike instead of ~/srcds_l/cstrike because he isn't in srcds_l
