Looking for tips before my New York trip
#1
I’m flying to New York next week. How to handle car rental at JFK Airport? I’ve never rented a car in the U.S. before, how it all works? Do I need to book in advance or can I just rent one when I arrive? I also read something about long lines at the rental desks and hidden fees for insurance or tolls. I’ll be landing late in the evening, so I’m worried most places might be closed. Has anyone recently rented a car at JFK and can share how it went?

Yeah, renting a car at JFK Airport can be a bit tricky if it’s your first time, especially if you arrive late. Most rental counters are open 24/7, but it’s still smart to book online in advance, that way you skip the crazy lines. I’d recommend checking reviews before picking a company, because prices can look good at first but go up fast with extra fees. Also if you plan to explore outside the city, it’s definitely worth having your own car. There are some great weekend trips you can do once you sort out your car rental at JFK Airport, like visiting lakes, wineries, or small towns near NYC.
