For some reason, I can only access my server through LAN. My server starts up fine in the console, exept I get some message saying "cannot exec dod_avalanche.cfg" but I can get avalanche fine in the game. I want to know how I can get my server on INTERNET so other ppl can join it? this is my command line:

c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game dod -port 27015 -map dod_avalanche -maxplayers 16 +exec server.cfg

do i need a public ip address in there, if so, where do i get it from?

do i need to do something with my ports, if so, how????

can someone help me????

Couldn't exec dod_avalanche.cfg????

when i started my server up in console, everyhitng seemed fine. Until i used the command "map dod_avalanche." when i put this command in, a bunch of error messages came up saying:

Error: Material "maps/dod_avalanche/nature blah blah blah blah.

And there are about 8 lines with this error message all slightly different

also:

Couldn't exec listip.cfg
Couldn't exec banned.cfg

and then at the end of it all:

VAC secure mode is avtivated <----that i know is sopposed to be there

do i need to download something again or what????

can someone help me!!!!

Edit: I have merghed and removed your duplicates. to here.
Ok, im only to give you this warning, PLEASE try to sum all your issues in ONE post, if you need to, go back and use the EDIT button. THank you.

I don't know much about dod you can find the needed matierals through google.

listip/bannedip is normal, i think you can remove the lines exec listip.cfg and banned.cfg from server.cfg

Don't do this again please.

Thats how it works, if the server is behind the same router as you, YOU can only connect through the LAN IP. everyone else uses your WAn IP(public IP address)

But yes, unless you DMZZ your server ip you'll need to forward ports so people outside can play.

To forward your ports you need to log into you routers admin panel. which is NORMALLY 192.168.1.1 i belive there should be a menu option for games and applications, then you forward these ports.

UDP] 1200 (used for Steam's Friends service)
[UDP] 27000 to 27015 (so that means all ports in between too)
[TCP] 27030 to 27039 (idem)
=> these are all Steam related ports

[UDP] 27015 and 27020 (default DS port, also used for HLTV)
[TCP] 27015 (you want to forward this for RCON access)
=> these ports are used by the dedicated server itself

Just yours? or others? im not familiar with that modem, and i know some modems act like a router.

After googling, i realize it is a modem/router.

do the following:

- click on start > run > type "cmd" press enter > type "ipconfig" at the dos prompt and press enter

look for "Default Gateway" and write down the number it has next to it

then start internet explorer and enter that number into the address bar and press enter Smile

User:
- admin

Pass:
- admin

and look for "port forwarding"

forward your required ports, apply and exit

when you log in to your routers web control, it should ask you for a username and password, by default its admin/admin
