Seeking the Most Intriguing Puzzles
#1
Hello everyone.

I've recently developed a fascination with puzzles that challenge the mind in unusual ways. Lately, I've been particularly drawn to dark riddles, those thought-provoking enigmas that often carry a mysterious or slightly unsettling twist.

I’m curious about how others approach solving them and what strategies work best. Are there any collections, books, or online resources that focus specifically on this genre? Additionally, what makes a dark riddle truly compelling compared to a standard one?

I’d love to hear your favorite examples, tips for solving them, or any personal experiences with these intriguing brain teasers.

Dark riddles are fascinating because they challenge your mind in unexpected ways and often carry a mysterious or unsettling twist. When tackling dark riddles, it helps to read the wording carefully, think laterally, and consider symbolic or double meanings. They differ from standard riddles by evoking strong imagery or emotions and surprising you with clever or ironic twists. Some good resources include books focused on dark riddles or online communities like puzzle forums and riddle subreddits. Personally, I enjoy riddles that make me pause and rethink assumptions, as they combine creativity with a touch of eerie intrigue.

Check out Year Walk on Steam, originally a iPhone game based on really ancient Swedish paganism that died out in the 1800s.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/269050/Year_Walk/

"According to Swedish researcher Tommy Kuusela,[4][2] årsgång was a complex form of divination in Swedish folk tradition, usually practiced at Christmas or New Year’s Eve. The phenomena could vary greatly regionally or even in the same district, but the general course was the same: if the practitioners ("year walkers") had managed to follow certain instructions and to solve particular challenges (such as encounters with supernatural beings), they would catch glimpses of what would happen the following year."

Inscryption is amazing too. DONT LOOK INTO THE STORY. Massive spoilers. This game really toys with you.

If you into more Immersive Sim like puzzles, Prey from 2017 might be up your alley. I loved that game, its a 9.5/10 me. And the mystery just constantly gets weirder and weirder until you beat it. That's when you brain melts Smile
