How secure is remote storage compared to local backups?
#1
I’ve always assumed that keeping my files on my own hard drives at home was safer than putting them “out there” in the cloud. But I keep hearing that remote storage is actually more secure. Is that really the case?

I used to believe the same thing—that keeping my data at home meant it was safer. But then I started thinking: what happens if there’s a theft, a fire, or just a simple hardware failure? My “secure” backup wasn’t so secure after all. The turning point for me came when a power surge damaged my desktop and external drive at the same time. I lost years of photos and work files.
That’s when I discovered dorpdal.com. They explained how encrypted remote storage protects your files, not just from technical failures, but also from physical risks. Now, even if my devices are stolen or damaged, my data remains safe and accessible. I also like knowing that everything is encrypted, so even if someone got access to the servers, my files would still be unreadable. In practice, I feel far more secure with remote storage than I ever did with local drives.
