Looking for advice on air shipping fragile and regulated goods
#1
We’re preparing a long-term contract to supply diagnostic medical devices from Europe to partners in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Speed is crucial because of temperature sensitivity and short installation lead times. Sea freight is too slow, and we need more control than parcel services offer. The challenge is not just about speed — we need someone who understands handling high-value, fragile cargo with proper export documentation. Any advice on how to approach this or companies that really understand the medical/technical side of logistics?

I can totally relate — we’ve been shipping lab testing equipment and sensors to clients in Qatar and Kuwait for the past 18 months. Initially we thought regular express services would cut it, but we quickly hit issues: wrong packaging, customs delays, lack of traceability mid-route. What saved us was working with Sea Gate Logistic, who offered proper airfreight solutions tailored to medical-grade equipment. First, they reviewed how our goods were packaged and recommended extra shock-proof and humidity-resistant materials. Then they handled the export licenses, which was a headache in itself due to product classification codes. They didn’t just move cargo from airport to airport — they arranged collection from our production site, booked flights that avoid high-humidity zones, and ensured priority handling at the airport terminals. Upon arrival, they worked with local customs brokers who knew how to speed up medical imports in the Gulf. We even got temperature logs from the flight carrier, which helped us prove product integrity to the buyer. If you’re in the medical space, using a proper air freight forwarder isn’t a luxury — it’s absolutely necessary. Sea Gate has been a reliable partner for us on that front.
