Craigslist Phone Hack Scam?
#1
I sell quite a bit of stuff via Craigslist. Typically with any kind of electronics I get a few scam contacts by email right after listing. This time I got something new/different. I received several text messages asking me to reply by email and there was an email address in the form of a link. They had the typical poor grammar/spelling suggesting scam. So I replied by text just to see what was next. They kept insisting that I reply by email. I assume they're trying to get me to click the link because there is a way to hack into Android phones?

Is the link a tinyurl? If so, they can read your ISP, location, what type of device you have etc.

I ran into a similar situation and ended up switching how I handle calls completely. I started using https://www.mightycall.com/blog/virtual-call-center/ so I could keep my real number private and still talk to buyers easily. It lets me separate personal and selling stuff, and I can block sketchy numbers faster. Made Craigslist deals feel a bit safer and more organized.
