Latest chip shortage situation?

Can anyone advise if they know what options aren’t available at the moment due to the chip shortage, and more importantly when these options will return? In particular I saw a dealer showroom example of an HSE seemed to be missing Meridian Surround and Matrix LED. Current price list is also confusing as to whether steering assistance is standard fit. I asked the dealer who had a sheet on this which only added confusion, because instead of saying these options weren’t available it was saying for example there was the option to downgrade to standard LED or standard Meridian. Why would anyone do that? If there’s a particular car on order can I somehow get the build spec of it to remove any confusion or disappointment? I’m looking at someone who has several HSEs coming in august and would be good to know. Many thanks.

It's crazy how even small delays in the silicon wafer cleaning process can slow everything down. A supplier issue or a minor defect means chips don’t pass quality control, and then the backlog just grows. I’ve read that even the tiniest contamination can make a difference, which is frustrating when demand is already huge. It makes me wonder how long it will take suppliers to catch up with everything.
