Righto. I still havent gotten the sounds working, but at least I've gotten the server working. HOWEVER...if I attempt to join my server from the same network that its being used on...it does not work....
I get an error about veryifying steam ID tickets...and I went to steampowered.com support, and I deleted the right files, and re-updated....and it still does not work...any ideas?..

Shut down steam and restart it. It could also be becuz you are using the wrong ip. Happens to me to bcuz my server is behind a router. If i type in the router ip it gives me that error. Start steam up and see if its under the lan tab. If it is, is that the ip you tried?

If it doesnt work on LAN it certainly won't work on WAN.
Try pulling out the internet connection, join it and see if it's still moanin about tickets

Ok...so I set sv_lan to 1, and THEN and only then am I able to connect to my own server. But as to it not working on a WAN if its not working on a LAN...thats not true at all. Sometimes servers which are hosted on the same network as a person playing on it, wont allow the person playing ont he same network to play...however there is a way to fix it, and its not working for me...so I basically need to figure otu why its not veryifying steam ID tickets...my firewall IS disabled...and its still not working...I need ideas.

Do you have a router? Forwarded ports? Have you tried setting it to sv_lan 0 after you join?
