SRCDS Steam group


Hldsupdatetool

I have instaled Hldsupdatetool.exe to directory: D:\srcds.
then i went to cmd, and i changed directory to D:\srcds .
Then i wrote a command: HldsUpdateTool
,then it wrote back to me:

Checking bootstrapper version ...
Getting version 17 of Steam HLDS Update Tool
Downloading. . . . . . . . . .
Unable to update: renamed HldsUpdateTool.exe but the file is still there.

What should i do?
(I allso have a hl2 account)

Please help me!!

Well I just downloaded this http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.exe and if you just double click it, it will open up a window to install the server in gui mode.. I haven't seen that before though, lol. I have heard though that theres a problem with tryin to install on a drive other the c, you may have to install the updatetool itself on the c drive, and then just download the server files to the d drive..

and a hl2 account is not needed to run the updatetool.

also, you shouldn't post support requests in the tutorials sections.. for further reference.. and if a mod would move this to the windows forum.. if a mod ever sees this Rolleyes

did you use the command line variables as described in install.txt (or something like that)

Try installing it on the C drive instead of D (as skeletor said)

I remember some other people had trouble with this too.
You can install the dedicated server on a different drive ofcourse, but install the update tool somehere on CSmile

lol but yea, just install the hldsupdatetool on the c drive, and then download the server files on the d drive. that should for sure work. or if all else fails, just download the files to the c drive, and move them to the d drive Big Grin but thats a lot of work.
