[SOLVED] My friends & I can't join my server
#1
[/b]Server OS: Windows 8.1 Professional (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @3.00Ghz
Ram: 4GB
Game(s): Garry's Mod
Start Up Command: -game garrysmod +exec server.cfg +exec network.cfg +host_workshop_collection <hidden> -authkey <hidden> -ip 192.168.0.50 +port 27015
Admin Mods: ASSmod

Bandwidth: 30mbps down | 3mbps up
Router: Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router | Hosted Wirelessly
Local IP of Server: 192.168.0.50
External IP: 66.169.109.104

I know that it seems bad to run an SRCDS server and play on it on the same computer, but I have done that countless times and I've never had any problems with that. I had no problem with anything when I had Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) previously. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1, bad things happened. I couldn't join my own server anymore, and neither could my friends, nor any friendly player. Even when they try to join, nothing shows up in the console. Picture: http://i.imgur.com/SZuXXGZ.png My server shows a ping of 2000, and I've never seen that before!

sv_lan is set to 0, if that makes any difference. Typing "heartbeat" into the console does not help either. I've done a fresh install of my server, both letting & not letting my addons install. Again, did not fix the problem. I'm at a loss of what to do now.

I've tried connecting to localhost, my internal IP, my external IP, and none of that works.

When you view the giant list of servers, do you go to the lan tab and actually see your server?

Yep. I thought the picture had shown that?

the pictures shows your server in garrys mod, not the servers list as in when you right click the steam logo in the bottom right tray and click servers and go to lan tab

Maybe your firewall has something to do with it, if you still cant join

It's not firewall, and the same thing shows up on Steam's servers.

Maybe try enabling both private and public option for srcds. The picture only shows private enabled. Windows 8.1 is fairly new, not surprised you have problems after moving from windows 7.

cl_cmdrate 30
cl_updaterate 30
rate 30000

Didn't touch anything since SteamCMD had installed the server.

humor me, remove the -ip and your ip from command line and try that. Also, try putting your public ip in as well.
