Server is freezing every X Minutes
#1
Hello folks.
Actually, my srcds is freezing every 10 Minutes, so all people get a drop. But he isn't crashing. After a few seconds he is running good again. When the gameserver is freezed, my webserver/database and even SSH is freezed too.

I have installed the current betaupdate, cause i hoped, that it would fix my problems, but it hasn't.

The game running on it is GarrysMod9. I have many custom mods for GarrysMod on it, but that isn't the problem. I installed GarrysMod without any mods, and it is freezing too.

To see what i mean, just join http://www.fredbert.de:27016 to test.

The machine, the server is running on is a vServer from 1blue.de. 8 Gig of ram available and an AMD Opteron running on it. The OS is SuseLinux.

Here the additional data:
gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)

ldd --version

ldd (GNU libc) 2.3.4

uname -a
Linux v10131 2.4.20-021stab028.727.777-smp #1 SMP Mon Sep 26 11:25:57 MSD 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Same here! My srcds running on virtual root server from 1blu.de freezes regularly as soon as at least 2-3 players are on the server. When the server is back again, all players had left...

Tried to contact the support, describing the problem: by fax, by email - no response. The server rental fee for one year is already written off...

I can NOT recommend 1blu.de !!!

It's not 1blue.de
it's VIRTUAL servers in general, to host a server you need full dedicated system specs, not shared or limited in any way.
Most virtual servers will only be able to get a tickrate of 10 (YES 10!!!) because the processor is limited too much by being shared.

You'd be better off running at home. You should either buy a dedicated server or a gameserver, virtual servers just won't do the job, they aren't configured for application hosting.

Ok, and thanx for your answer. I was really frustrated yesterday.
It's a pity that I already have payed for one year...

I just have to announce, I changed my provider. That was the only solution for this problem.
