Ok, I posted a thread in the Anandtech forums and I was directed here, so I am hoping someone can help.
I recently resurected my old computer and installed the CS S dedicated server via Steam. The machine specs are:
AthlonXP 1800+
256mb Crucial PC2100 (soon to be 768)
ECS K7S5A
WD 120gb hdd
This machine is connected to the internet through a US Robotics 802.11G router with a 4m down/ 768 k up connection, though soon this is going to 8m/2m. I know the machine is not a beast but all I want is a server for friends and just to mess around with.
My first problem is that no one can see it outside of my lan. I assume this has to do with ports so I went into my router settings, the NAT section, and enabled this:
Trigger Port/s Trigger Type Public Port Public Type Enabled
1. 27000-27040 Both (TCP and UDP) 27015 Both
I can't figure out a way to just do port fowarding instead of triggers, so any help with that?
Assuming that this is the only port I need to forward, what else do I need to do to enable my server to be seen? I will eventually setup a cfg file but right now I just want to mess around with a few friends and a bunch of bots. Thanks for any help!
