It's because Ventrilo can only earn their moneys on selling a licens to their product. The limited version, 8 slots, are probably just there for people to test werether it's worth buying or not. VALVe earns their money on the actual game and therefore they can provide a free SRCDS program to their customers.

Valve wants to make it easy to run servers, and doesn't want to have to deal with licensing. Plus, a lot more people would buy the games over servers. Trust me, I bet they have thought about charging for the servers, but right now they like their little piece of competition compared to the other game companies to require licenses.

Mumble is good, but I just can't get the other ppl in the community to use it, they rather use skype then..... So guess I am stuck with TS3

Made a cp for it. But haven't updated it to the new version cause lack in interest. Was the only one running asp.net xD
